Our Milestones

April 2023

operation daywork

On April 14th, the Operation Daywork day took place. We also took part in this event! Some high school students were allowed to support our employees in their activities for one day and collect money for an aid project in exchange. This year's winner of the Human Rights Award is COPROPAP (Cooperativa de Producción de panela El Paraiso) from Ecuador. It is a cooperative involved in fair trade. After twenty years of hard work to get out of poverty and fight against isolation and the lack of a national development policy, COPROPAP has grown into a cooperative with 49 members that provides economic support to more than 200 families in the rural communities of Pacto. Thanks to this action, we were able to offer the students an insight into the world of work and at the same time support a very important social project.

February 2023

Our first crowdfunding project has been realized. The "dormizil" dormitory, which houses homeless people during the winter and where more than 100 volunteers provide night services and prepare breakfasts, will be rebuilt in 2023. We too, want to make a contribution and, in cooperation with Ethical Banking, provide the crowdfunding platform to finance an emergency bed. The donation collection goal is: 25,000 euros.

January 2023

Three-year plan

In November 2020,  the European Central Bank (ECB) published the "Guidance on Climate and Environmental Risks-Supervisory Expectations on Risk Management and Disclosure." which aims to enable effective and comprehensive management of environmental and climate risks. At the national level, the Bank of Italy in 2022 published similar expectations and conducted a thematic survey, in which we as a bank also participated! On this basis, on January 31, 2023, we adopted a three-year plan aimed at the structured inclusion of ESG factors and environmental and climate risks. The plan includes more than 30 measures in 12 areas and thus represents an important step toward integrating sustainability into our bank's business model and core business.

Participation at the initiative "Südtirol Radelt" (South tyrol is cycling)

Also this year, we as a bank participate at the initiative "Südtirol Radelt". We are firmly convinced that together we can achieve more.

Almost 30 employees diligently enter their cycled kilometers every day and since January 2022 we have already cycled a total of 12,526 km. As a result, we have saved 2,210 kg of CO2 and burned 373,086 kcal instead of gasoline!

December 2022

Raiffeisen portfolio management

This financial investment product takes sustainability criteria into account: Financial market-relevant sustainability principles are applied throughout the investment process. We invest in index funds/ETFs and actively managed investment funds, which spreads the assets globally and across various asset classes. The sustainability strategy from the Raiffeisen portfolio management is based on two fundamental principles: EXCLUDE THE BAD and SELECT THE BEST.

October 2022

clean up day

Our employees collected trash from the streets of the city of Bolzano to contribute to a cleaner urban structure. With our commitment, we want to set an example in terms of environmental protection and at the same time raise awareness among the population for waste avoidance.

September 2022

It was with pleasure that we received the South Tyrolean Mobility Award 2022 for our project "Sustainability full speed ahead" on 28.09.2022. This prize is awarded annually by the South Tyrolean provincial government to honor outstanding mobility projects in the province. We donated the prize received to the Center for the Blind St. Raphael in Bolzano for a special tandem action.

May 2022

Welcome to the Jungle:

our first "Raiffeisen Forest" is growing! Thanks to the cooperation with Treedom, we have compensated our CO2 emissions this year by planting 556 trees in 5 countries. As a small thank you, we gave all employees a little tree from our "forest", whose growth they can now follow online.

"The right tree, in the right place and for the right purpose" is Treedom's motto. We are also convinced of this motto: because planting trees is only good for the planet if it is done in the right way and in the right place.

That's why we are especially happy to see our trees being used in agroforestry projects. These support local communities of small farmers, with many positive environmental as well as social impacts.

This is a small step towards our goal of "climate neutrality 2025" and a symbolic sign for our employees. Our efforts continue to focus on reducing our CO2 emissions. After all, from 2025 onwards, we only want to compensate for unavoidable emissions.

Here  you will get more information about our forest.

March 2022

social day

The dormizil in Bolzano offers accommodation to homeless people during the winter. It is a small, humane facility in the heart of Bolzano. In this way, 25 homeless people are given a place to sleep and breakfast. It is open daily from 7:30 in the evening until 8:30 in the morning. Because we were so enthusiastic about the initiative, 19 colleagues demonstrated social commitment in the first two weeks of March by taking on a night shift or a breakfast shift at the night shelter.

We have set ourselves the goal of making it clear to our customers which of the bank's products and initiatives also take sustainability aspects and ESG factors into account. With this in mind, we have created our own sustainability label to identify all our products and initiatives that incorporate sustainability.

September 2021

We want to be a reliable partner for our customers and stand by them, especially in bad times. For this reason, we issued our first sustainability bond for retail investors in 2021 in the amount of EUR 15 million.

April 2021

The employee bonus is governed by the national collective agreement and the supplementary national agreement. Starting with the 2021 financial year, a sustainability index (ESG index) will be used for the first time as an additional company-related target. If we do not achieve our sustainability targets, this will lead to reductions in the earnings bonus.

November 2020

We are currently very much confronted with the climate crisis. To counteract this, we issued the first Green Bond for retail investors in the amount of EUR 15 million in fiscal 2020, a milestone for the bank. This is a bond whose proceeds are exclusively dedicated to ecologically sustainable projects with a measurable positive effect on the environment.

September 2020

Our logo is not the only sign that we are green. We have taken up the cause of sustainability and environmental protection and organized the first "Green Day" for our employees in the fall of 2020.

15th of September

Our employees are important to us, which is why we want to promote their well-being at work with family-friendly and life-phase-conscious measures. For this reason, we have applied for the Audit familieundberuf certification.

18th of May 2020

We have prepared our Sustainability Report for fiscal 2019 on a voluntary basis and in accordance with GvD 254/2016. It is based on the GRI criteria - the internationally recognized guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative - and has been audited by an independent auditing firm.

The format and colors are deliberately different from the bank's usual appearance.

The swallowtail on the cover is a butterfly native to South Tyrol. It is a symbol of a living creature that can only thrive in an overall healthy environment. The introductory images for the various themes are taken from a bird's eye view. We want to show that we always try to keep an overall view even with complex topics.

September 2019

Our Board of Directors and management are explicitly committed to sustainability, which has always been in our Raiffeisen DNA. With our own sustainability strategy, we want to develop our bank into a showcase in the areas of environment, social affairs and governance. We want to generate added value for our stakeholders, with a lived conviction and corresponding measures.

September 2019

Sustainability thrives on people who take responsibility. Our sustainability team is responsible for the concrete implementation of our sustainability strategy. We started with four young, motivated women. In the meantime, the team has grown and taken on new tasks.
